Here's a picture from the latest edition of Martin Aircraft's newsletter to investors. See if you can spot what is missing...

Yep, you got it. It's starting to look as if even Martin Aircraft have finally realised that there's just no way this thing is ever going to get certified as a piloted aircraft so they're focusing on turning it into a UAV. Problem is -- it's just as crappy as an unmanned craft. UAV helicopters and multirotors will eat it for breakfast on performance, price and reliability.

Who bloody cares? I don't and nor should you unless you have lots of money invested in it.

Didn't Dubai buy some of these for fire fighting, I didn't see any news of them helping out during that tower fire

I have never been able to figure out how they think that this is a viable business model, or how they managed to persuade an investor to sink $50 million into it.

What I find annoying is that some mom and pop investors are now bitching about how they've probably lost their money on the MJP.

Others say "this is why property is a better investment".

But really, what both groups are admitting is that far too many Kiwi investors simply don't do due diligence on their investments. Even a quick Google would have turned up my columns warning against investing in MJP when it was floated and other "informed" commentators voiced similar concerns.

So how on earth can an investor who decides to still go ahead and risk their money, complain when exactly what was predicted actually happens?

And the huge downside is that those who were foolish enough to take the MJP prospectus at face value then start claiming that NZ tech stocks are "bad".

Sigh!

People should use due diligence when they plan an investment. Usually though they invest through a Fund Manager and have no idea where their money is going.

Having said that unless you have money invested in MJP there is little point in banging on about it.

There are plenty of shady business deals out there that are equally as onerous.
