electric commuter vehicles

at first glance this is a backwards step
then we see they are going to battery buses
perhaps with the range required for commuter trains and buses a super capacitor ( bank ) is far more useful

plug in charger every few kilometers at main stops would be enough
it would charge in less than the time to offload and onload the next batch of passengers most of the time

what range does a commuter train or bus really require
not the 100s of ks range anxiety private vehicle owners want
and could this be dimming the eyesight of those that should be looking at more innovative answers

it does not have to make it back to the depot it just has to make it to the next stop .. with a bit of spare
its not like a dino chewer .. when its stopped ( traffic jams ) .. its not using any energy ( for motion anyway )

thats close

1/3 the height
halve the width of the tyres
double the height of the tyres

that will give you more than the 10 k extra speed needed for nz and probably the 20k for aussie as well
if not well it probably doesnt have 4 motors now so thats the next fix

but even the design as it is ( its just an electric skooter with an umbrella ) i would be happy to run around auckland in it

You're not going to see battery buses in Wellington anytime soon. The who reason for them removing the trolleys in floored as in Europe and the US / Canada they are expanding and renewing trolleybus fleets. In Prague they are rolling out a new service https://prague.tv/en/s72/Directory/c207 ... -in-Prosek

Wellington is all about breaking up the routes and leasing them out to the lowest bidder. You can't easily do that with the trolleybuses. Battery electric buses up in the northern hemisphere has been seen to be a bit of a disaster.
The Wrightspeed turbo electric hybrid buses with the were praising are pure vapor-ware and not exist anywhere and non have been tested in Wellington.
