Outfoxing YouTube and the music industry

Postby aardvark_admin » Sat Apr 14, 2018 2:21 pm

I love this...

If you post a video to YouTube containing copyrighted music then 99% of the time it will be monetized by the copyright owner and ads will appear in it.

However, take a look at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOtab0BKOGY

Do you see what's happened there?

YouTube is now demonetizing any videos that have war footage or violence in them -- so there are no ads on that vid, despite the copyrighted music content.

The way is obviously clear now for people to upload copyrighted music with video footage that does not qualify for monetization. The result will be that we (the viewers) get free music with no ads -- almost like the YouTube Red subscription.

LOL... YouTube shoots itself in the foot.
