Interestingly enough some of the lines companies here are looking to use drones for some maintenance work. Although they were talking about either compressed air or water blasters for cleaning some hard to reach, high up components. Also fault inspections with camera drones programmed to fly the length of spans taking images of insulators etc. Currently a lot of that work is done in a helicopter.

ohh no thats so dangerous
somebody might get plastic bits rained down on their head if something goes wrong
but with a helicopter
2 crew ..wires next to long bendy rotor blades .. wind gusts .. 100KV .. what could possibly go wrong
