EU Copyright craziness (21 Jun, 2018)

What are they smoking?

The EU wants to make hypertext linking a crime unless permission is first obtained and any fee (designated by the copyright owner) is paid -- doesn't that stab right at the heart of the paradigm on which the web has been constructed?

And no memes? Surely Twitter and Instagram would not be happy about that -- given the number of memes that circulate via their services each and every day.

Is the only way for the rest of the world to knock sense into the heads of the EU politicians to do what YouTube did earlier this week -- and simply deny them access. Would a few weeks of not being able to access PornHub or online gambling sites soon change the mind of dim-witted EU politicians?

I suspect that anyone working on something that will be deemed illegal will merely move it off-shore under pseudonyms so the EU will have to build their own fence. Trump would be proud of them.
