The Newark Airport was closed for a time today because a pilot reported seeing a drone.
Sounds reasonable doesn't it?
Well how about the fact that the sighting was 20 miles from the airport that they closed?
Drone hysteria gone just a little too far perhaps?
One has to ask... why don't airports get closed whenever someone sees a gull or a goose or some similarly large bird within 20 miles? Every year birdstrikes cause US$400 million in damage and regularly claim lives -- but recreational multirotor drones have caused a single death, even on the very few evidenced instances when they have collided with an aircraft.
How crazy has the world become today?
