Hmm... it seems that although other countries are doing thermal screening to try and prevent the coronavirus from crossing their borders, NZ doesn't care quite so much for its people:

Virologist Lance Jennings said New Zealand had effective plans in place if viruses like this were to spread.

"I don't think there's any need to panic. We manage these things the same as we manage influenza.

"The sensible thing [to do] at this point is to increase awareness of what is going on overseas."

He said until the World Health Organisation (WHO) provided a global update on the situation, everyone had to just "wait and see".

am i wrong to picture this as ... "we sit on the dunny every morning and read the paper to see what we are to late to do anything about "

ffs i have a phone that does thermal screening now
wtf do we bother paying these people at all

i had thought the #8 wire had rusted away
it would seem that these egg sperts dont have a clue what wire even is

Long ago, t'was said that planet Earth cares nothing for the parasites on its crust.

And if it needs to survive by vomiting them into the oblivion of space, it will do so without any ethical or moral compunction.

Those who are about to die, salute you.

And the rest of the world continues to ramp up screening on good advice... Meanwhile, in New Zealand...

Ewe sleeping?

Pigs chooks and humans
Humans live above the chooks and pigs

Yes shit on the pigs and birds

The house design lends itself to viral incubation

Non steroidal anti inflammatory tablets

That is what you need

A ten day supply for each person in the house in New Zealand

Interesting: the CoronaVirus is (currently) running at 3% mortality rate, while the 'regular' flu strains sit around 6-7%. The worrying part is that people are apparently infectious before showing symptoms. I do wonder if the spread is far greater but being under-reported. Anecdotally, both my partner & I got hit with a bad dose of the flu in the first week of January while in Central, mingling with a LOT of Chinese tour groups in the Queenstown/Arrowtown area. Both of us have kept up with flu jabs over the years, and this was unexpected. Self-quarantined for a week and a lingering cough since then. Still, my paranoia is healthy! :D

Coronavirus: PM Jacinda Ardern makes 'no apologies' for rolling out 'everything we can' to fight disease

i can agree with her
but
how about apologising profusely for taking months longer than it should have to do anything about border monitoring for infectious diseases

logic might pose the chinese are downplaying the Coronavirus problem quite a bit
you dont build at construction light speed 2 new hospitals for an insignificant outbreak without a good reason .. even if your chinese and you can

1,3,9,27,81,...

At 15% death rate (cf 1-3% Ebola)
At 85% transmission rate (cf under 50% Ebola)
At 10 day incubation (cf Ebola 2 days blood coming out your eyes)

This question “will it fade back”

Perhaps if 1,2,4,8,16,32,...

1-1
2-3
4-9
8-27
16-81
32-243
64-729
128-2187
256-6561
512-19683
1024-60,000
2048-120,000
4096-240,000
8192-480,000
16384-1,000,000

In a city of LA 12,000,000 people
the services could contain 16,000 people
But not 10^6
