Has Microsoft overstepped the mark by effectively commandeering (with legal consent) the domain name of another company on the premise that it is the only way to stop malware being distributed?

Is this a "step to far" by the courts and does it indicate that money is the driving factor in the US court system?

I agree Bruce and this is not the first time. Much as I don't like the tactics that old Kim Dot whatever is using, it was the big money that bought him down, not only him, but his business that had a heap of legit users as well as the copyright infringers. It was the legit users that suffered.

Something is not right in the US justice system that allows this to happen. Go for the baddies, shut them down at whatever cost to all the legit users that are innocent and now screwed.

I loved your last sentence in the article.
What is pathetic is how they got them and then their crappy servers couldn't handle them. Despicable that they never approached no-ip in the first place which should have been the first thing to do.

It is now so obvious that the USA courts couldn't give a stuff as to how innocent people are affected by these actions. Megauplaod being another case. Who in their right mind would do an internet business within the USA.

Steve the real reason they went after Megupload is because they were going to start up a music site where the musicians would have got paid directly so eliminating the studios. and RIAA.

Not surprising really! Big money talks there and it's starting to do so here too.
