You should have bought into helium when I suggested it as a good investment some seven years ago eh?

Same goes for neodymium.

So what elements would be a good investment today and would they present a rate of return that eclipses that offered by conventional investments or "precious metals" such as gold and silver?

Could simply choosing an element and investing a couple of grand in it be a safer bet than lotto?

Honestpoliticium - extremely rare element that may not even exist.

It can exist. All you need to do is insert the element, politicium, into the LHC then bombard with substantial amounts any harmful, high speed particles for a period of time. Politicium then becomes Honestpoliticium until removed - as particles hopefully.

Unfortunately in the search for said element, a new element Brownlium was accidentally discovered, a superheavy element that is released after major seismic events. So far no practical use has been found for the element.

That would be a trans-uranic and poisonous to all it touches!
