The jury is in and it's a big thumbs-up for the new Ryzen 3000 series from AMD.

Reviewers hare unanimous in their praise for this new family of heavily multi-cored CPUs so the future looks bright for people like myself who rely heavily on grunty CPUs to do mundane stuff like cruch frames of video.

Sadly, AMD's GPU promise really hasn't lived up to the hype however, so the cost of my next editing rig will still be heavily dependent on whatever graphics card I opt for and that card is likely to cost more than the entire rest of the system combined.

Meanwhile, I'm still trying to work out strategies for dealing with the increasingly annoying sleep disruption created by my Parkinson's. Damn! :-)
