Wow, how much has New Zealand changed in 50 short years?

What's your take on the way this country used to be back in the 1960s?

Were Maori getting a fair deal compared to today?

Did you see anything in those movies that brought back waves of nostalgia?

Well here's a bonus video you might also enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDLenSy5SD0&t=423s

Hmm... the more things change, the more they stay the same.

NZ's housing crisis, 70 years ago seems just like today:

Propaganda, both of them, pure and simple. No different from the marketing tripe we get today, especially the tourist one.

Goosemoose was likely right. Self-praise and propaganda were quite possible.
I did not look at the videos. I'm old enough to have been alive and cognisant, back then.

Those who take the trouble to look up real history rather than the confabulated stuff that passes for history nowadays, or have lived for quite a while, can see the glaring gap between fact, fiction and propaganda.

Progress and advancement is predicated by effort, aptitude, adaptability, personal development and such. Not on ones ethnic origins.

The W'gton (and elsewhere) woodenheads who are now driving and championing an Apartheid NZ have much to answer for.

Hell is not hot enough for them

As for the so-called housing crisis . . .
The gNats said there wasn't one and did nothing.
The socio-commies said there was one and achieved nothing.
Net result - the same.

And what constitutes 'real history' ? The archive films from 50 years are a perspective of rural life, call it what you like, propaganda if the film maker wants to send a message. But watching the film for me was an insight into rural life and how different it was back then. 50 years ago I was just a skinny kid running around like those Maori kids but on the other side of the planet, I wonder what they are doing now?

To get an idea of history and get a better perspective of what actually went on you need to read multiple sources, this National Archive footage is a treasure and supplements a plethora of literature on our history. Thanks for the pointer Bruce. I am still reading about it and trying to formulate a real history, but then again it will be from my perspective. There is no one single definitive source.
