"Devil be gone"...

Have I had a Benny Hinn moment and been cured of my need to wear prescriptive eyewear?

Sadly, I doubt it. Perhaps I have glaucoma or something which is affecting the focal length of my eyes -- but whatever the cause, it was just an unreal experience to be able to see clearly without my glasses on. In fact my unaided vision was better than that of the people I was flying with who wear corrective lenses.

Let's see how long this lasts (if it does) and whether it is perhaps a hint of some underlying problem but I have to say, I'm more elated than worried.

Woohoo.

Have you been bitten by any radioactive spiders lately? Certainly something worthy of further investigation!

Any big change in diet recently?

I had to drop all carbs & sugars late November, effectively going full Keto. Within 2 weeks had similar issues: eye strain/sore/hard to see the screen & distance. By 3 weeks I gave up and went to the optometrist - both eyes had improved a whole diopter (4 steps). Forked out $$$ for new glasses then over next 6 weeks the eyes slowly went back to their earlier state as the body adapted to the new food regime. Bugger.

Just been sticking to my usual diet which is already relatively low in carbs and high in protein.

Your pupils might be much smaller lately.
This can make vision clearer.
Pinhole glasses work on a similar principle:

That is true phord, but even on the sunniest of days prior to yesterday I could not see well enough without my glasses to fly a model plane so something else has changed -- and the light levels were much lower when I walked into town yesterday arvo at about 4:30pm so that doesn't explain everything :-/

Actually Bruce, you probably have no need to worry. I had the same issue last year with better clarity without my glasses. If you've been short sighted, as you age the eye-ball shape tends towards long-sightedness hence the eyeball shape goes back towards 'normal'. In my bad eye it went from -2.5 to -2.0, the higher the negative number the worse it gets.

This is what the opto was telling me. So one blessing to getting older?

Check this out - it happened to my father - his vision became 20/20 overall and this was the reason. Obviously not the same, but some similarities - I would definitely think further investigation is required.

Interesting but I am myopic and my myopia (short-sightedness) seems to have gone (or is greatly diminished). If this was due to "second-sight" it should have worsened.

Yeah, do that.

I'll bet the missus looks really gorgeous, about now, Bruce.

"Hello," Mrs Bruce.

Keep feeding him what you have been, but look out!
