All your everything belong to me (13 May, 2021)

Is our Bill of Rights document just a joke?

How do you feel about police being given an unfettered and unsupervised right to take your stuff without even laying criminal charges and you then being presumed to be guilty of some unspecified crime -- without any charges being laid and with your only recourse to be the cost, delay and inconvenience of proving that those assets were purchased with legitimately earned income?

Isn't the presumption of guilt without proof or even charge the work of a totalitarian regime rather than that of an honest government that respects the rights of its citizens?

The goals of the proposed changes to the Criminal Proceeds Act may be worthy but effectively completely reversing the "right to be presumed innocent" provision of the BOR must surely devalue that document to the status of "worthless".

Do you like the direction this country is headed in?

Good in theory for the goals, but woeful in implementation.

What's a good alternative?

cart before the horse

for this type of legislation to have any form of legitimacy there must be a formal and independent system to challenge any actions by the tax by theft squads

it is way to open to corruption and abuse at this point and that needs to change

so saying that quite clear cut examples of unemployed / never employed gang members driving around in lambo's and ferrari's make for a fairly easy catch
( ,,,,,,,, ....... A E I O U use em sparingly theres probably not enough )

i might live and eat in a sewer .. but hey look how many of these shiny things i have got

These little erosions of rights/privacy etc often seem to occur under the watch of (relatively) centre/left governments. "Trust us - we're kind". And then - inevitably - a government that wears its cruelty on its sleeve gets in, and it's, "thanks for the weakened judicial process and the surveillance state apparatus! We'll take it from here".

If it were that easy then it would obviously be simple to bring criminal charges against the offenders for their obvious crimes.

To simply give police the power to effectively become judge and executioner without the involvement of the court system just opens the door for them to start taking the easy route of seizing assets left, right and centre then considering "case closed, we got them and taught them a lesson". For those innocents caught up in the crossfire -- too bad I guess. That is not a *justice* system, it's vigilateism at its worst.

This is happening in the USA and the people there have lost ALL trust in the government and police.
They are fully armed, loaded and have deployed home based security systems.
I have protected myself too. And in case the spooks are monitoring Aardvark, I aint going to reveal what I have done.
Cue Tui's ad!

Given my past involvements with the SIS and government I have no doubt that this site figures on their radar to some degree.

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not watching me :-)

The move to Apartheid totalitarianism in NZ is alive, well and gathering speed.

Ah, you're finally here. Surprised though that there's no mention of 'Socialist Cindy' either.

Nice stereotyping too. Why shouldn't gang members be allowed to own and use firearms if the pass all the tests and vetting? Surprising too that not all gang members are criminals and thugs. Convenient bogyman though for politicians of a certain persuasion.

An ex NSA guy shared this week's ago:

If they start sending goons around taking guns, DO THIS:
HERE IS HOW YOU GET A WARNING YOUR DOOR IS ABOUT TO BE KICKED IN
Take a motion activated yard light and screw in a bulb base that has a power outlet on it. Run an extension cord to a light by your bed. A BRIGHT LIGHT Make sure that light does not false Mager and only goes off when it should. Don't have a switch on that light, wire rt direct. When they come to luck your door in a light will already be on in your room before a boot touches the door. That will give you both light AND the precious seconds you need to grab your gun and at least get a few rounds into them. An AR will not be ideal, they'll have body armor. Use 308, 270, 30 W or at the very weakest, a 30/30 A 223 has 1300 foot pounds at the muzzle A 30/30, which is a kid's gun, has 1,902 and a 270 starts at about 2,800 and can have over 3,200 A 270 is far more powerful at 500 yards than a 223 nght at the muzzle. If you have a 270 or 3006 use them.
The 223 is for an-armored targets_ You want to win, nght", Obviously if a 223 is all you have, USE IT, they are not shabby Just not the best goon slaying option. It might also pay to hook that motion sensor light up to a UPS in case they get wise and start cutting people's power first, and also, it might be wise to dnll through the wall behind the light and pass the "switch'. back that way because they might just pull the extension cord out (but by then it would have switched on) so the UPS is probably mare importanL
When they go around taking guns, they'll be kicking in doors during the dead of night, ambushing sleeping people. You WILL NOT wake up and grab the gun on time. But if you get woke up by a light and then have the light already on, you absolutely WILL be able to react on time to teach them about what is proper behavior.
NO MATTER WHAT THEY SCREAM ABOUT "POLICE" or PEACE or WHATEVER ELSE TO GET YOU TO NOT FIGHT, DON'T BE A CHICKEN SHIT, YOU SHOOT THEIR ASSES.
If the light keeps false tnggenng, don't switch it off, ADJUST ME FALSE TRIGGERING PROBLEM AND MAKE IT WORK. Your wake up light should not have a switch on it AT ALL
