I got nothing (12 Jul, 2021)

Another day, another daily dose of drivel!

I'll just take a moment to thank all those who make my life a little more purposeful by reading Aardvark Daily and also the much smaller number who actually take the time to contribute via the forums or email.

Twenty six years and counting... let's see if we can make 50 :-)

Branson's quick journey this morning was obviously put together quickly to beat Bezos to the punch of being the first one to build and fly in their own spaceship. Unfortunately the usually recognised altitude where space officially begins is 100km and his flight reached 88km. So I am not sure why most articles are uncritically saying he went to space.

You obviously weren't in the lecture hall when, in Marketing 101, we were told very clearly that "perception shapes reality" :-)

I don't care too much that Branson got up to near-space, but I do so enjoy seeing Bezos getting a bloody nose from it - just brilliant!

As for the daily blogging - keep up the good work Bruce! I've been enjoying Aardvark for many years now (not always agreeing, but good arguments & discussions) and long may it continue.

I quite like the 'Kármán Line' definition; the altitude at which - if you're relying on wings for lift - you'll have to go so fast that you'll actually be in orbit. Alas, the resulting altitude is a bit vague, and open to interpretation. NASA is content to call it 50 miles/80Km, which means Branson just limped over the line. And I look forward to our Daily Dose, too!

Rome beat Britannia in some soccer game today. I believe the entire Britannia team is to be fed to the lions in the Colosseum as punishment.

I'm consumed with curiosity!

Just reading your arithmetic on keystrokes time etc reminds me of when I worked in the US for a spell. A colleague I worked with over there had been with the organisation for 48 years - FORTY EIGHT YEARS !!! During a quiet moment I worked out that if he took a rest break 10 mins each day then during his tenure the organisation would have paid him an entire years salary for taking a rest break.
