Do not get too comfortable (9 May, 2022)

Is the current "Indian Summer" a sober warning of things to come?

Are we doing enough to prepare for the long-term effects of climate change and the implications for our primary and other industries?

Should we be working very hard right now to ensure that we're ready for all the changes that are just around the corner?

Or should we simply adopt the good old Kiwi attitude that "she'll be right" and then act all suprised when the inevitable happens?

Plenty of people are bailing out the sinking ship, for all the good it will do.

Balmy autumns; droughts punctuated by flash floods; mosquitoes surviving the winter, bringing Dengue Fever further south each year; 'Boat people', but now they turn up in repurposed Panamaxes, escorted by destroyers. Lovely mild days for now, tho.

warning .. no .. guideline .. only roughly .. it's missing the large component of wild weather that will become more normal

Are we doing enough to prepare for the long-term effects of climate change and the implications for our primary and other industries?

is nothing ever enough .. yehh i dont count vigorous debate research virtue signalling as any useful form of preparation

Should we be working very hard right now to ensure that we're ready for all the changes that are just around the corner?

20 years ago we could have made a slight direction change .. 10 years ago we could have made a noticeable direction change .. today we need a large direction change .. when we eventually accept it needs to be done we will need a huge direction change

"Are we doing enough?"

Nothing we do has any significant effect on the global temperature.
Nothing *anyone* does has any significant effect on the global temperature.

We are in a very mild warming phase of 0.13ºC per DECADE. That is since the late 1970s which were cooler than the 1930s/1940s.
The UAH Satellite measurements (Via Roy Spencer) are the only believable temperature measurements now. All other temperature trends have been 'tweaked' by the climate alarmists to exaggerate the warming.

Half a dozen 4wd/SUV's in our street had their tires let down last week by some miscreant pretending to be "doing something" about climate change.
I suspect if they're caught in the act by the wrong people, they will need to change more than their underwear.

News lately is that coastal properties will be flooded by rising sea levels.
These properties have had huge capital gain in recent years.
The boomers are very concerned that their properties will de-value.
The gummit will need to compensate them with our taxes so that they can re-loacte.
They will be forced to move inland, and this will increase house prices even more.

not that new
ELF ( earth liberation front ) started doing that to suv's and hummers in the 2000s they stepped up to burning hummers at the dealerships
extinction rebellion is just doing a tame version of the elf stuff .. atm

Normally, by early or mid-April I'm back into my big-boy (long) pants and my shorts and tees get folded into a drawer for storage until November or December, when the weather starts warming again. However, this year I've been wearing that summer apparel right through April and well into early May.

My memory is not what I would like it to be, but neither is your's Bruce.

This is not the first year of what you describe. A decade ago (or more or less or so) I recall still being in shorts in June.

It's all cyclic and that never seems to change.

But I did notice we escaped the equinoctial winds, this Autumn.

Anyone who imagines the solar system or any part of it cares about humans does need to see a psycho-babbler.
