I see that the price of a 1Kg block of Mainland Tasty Cheese has now hit $21.
Fonterra says that "this cheese is more expensive because it's aged for 18 months".
They also say "Additional cost pressures such as fuel, labour, fertiliser, and animal feed were all affecting the cost of producing cheese and other food at the moment".
Sounds reasonable... until some clever sod pointed out
"I think it interesting that a block of cheese that is aged for 18 months (ie: made 18 months ago) is going up due to cost increases today"
'nuff said about the ethics of a dairy monopoly.
