SIS told to apologise to Hager

Postby aardvark_admin » Fri Oct 11, 2019 10:21 am

From this story: https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/400 ... icky-hager

there were no checks in place at the time to prevent the SIS acting unlawfully, and nothing's been done since to stop it happening again

Hell, why can't I simply apologise for speeding and be let off any consequences?

Is it because I am not an agency of the government?

Two sets of rules YET AGAIN!

When the state is not held to the same (or higher) levels of accountability as regular citizens then there is nothing to prevent abuse of power and corruption.

That's where we're at folks.

Because equal doesn't mean identical. Does a new-born infant have an equal right to drive a car as everyone else? No, but some people interpret "equal" to mean everybody has to be identical, ie probably white middle-aged middle-class males. So it needs to be spelled out. (And I am a white middle-aged middle-class male, so I don't mean that in a derogatory way. Ok, late middle-aged ;) )

If you don't spell it out you can end up like the demokratia or “rule by the people” introduced in 507 B.C. by the Athenian leader Cleisthenes. It is hailed as the first democracy, and "rule by the people" sounds good, until you look closer and realise that "the people" were Athenian males over 18 who weren't slaves and whose parents had also both held citizenship of Athens. If you were part of the 85% who were a slave, female, or had a parent from another greek city then obviously you weren't "people".

technically yes they do .. they need a licence
equal means equal
anything else favours one sect over another .. no need for anything to be said after equal rights for everyone .. if you want true equality

And is a new-born infant allowed a licence by law?

"Equality" is a lovely sounding word that fits so nicely in a motto or headline, and of course everybody wants to be for it. But the devil is in the detail. For example are you for equality of opportunity or equality of outcome?

i believe all parts of the driving licence test would be failed by them
age / written test / verbal test /eyesight test / practical test
all are required to pass the test and obtain a licence

white, black or brindle, gay, straight or unconfirmed, female, male or undecided, christian, muslem or giant magic farie, able, disabled or comatose are all treated no differently

from my experience there is far more devil in any greater detail added for any 'justifiable ' reason

For example are you for equality of opportunity or equality of outcome?

opportunity of course
outcome is thinly disguised prejudice of one form or another
